Plumber
As a Plumber, you'll learn to install, maintain, and repair the water and drainage systems that homes, businesses, and communities rely on every day. Develop practical skills in blueprint reading, pipe preparation, measuring, cutting, and joining materials through hands-on training that prepares you for employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
Piping Trades: Plumber, Steamfitter, Pipefitter
This foundation program also covers:
Students gain familiarity with the hand and power tools used in the field. Hands-on use of piping materials like copper, cast iron, black iron, and plastics. The theory portion of the course includes safety, trade math, science, piping materials and code.
Admission requirements
- High school graduation (or equivalent) or mature student status
- English 11 with a minimum grade of C (or equivalent)
- Math 10 with a minimum grade of C (any Math 10 or equivalent)
What qualifications will you receive upon graduation?
- Certificate in Level 1 –Plumber, steamfitter and pipefitter
- 375 hours of work-based training towards apprenticeship
Plumber
At TRU the four levels or years of the plumbing apprenticeship training are offered. Level 4 leads to Interprovincial Plumbing Trades Qualification.
Requirements
Apprentices must purchase the required textbooks and provincial competency manuals. Students are also required to pay tuition fees while attending TRU.
