How to Apply
Students who complete the Adventure Guide Diploma can ladder directly into Adventure concentration in the Bachelor of Tourism Management as long as the educational requirements outlined below are met.
If students wish to enter other concetrations in the Bachelor of Tourism Management, additional courses may be required and will extend the degree beyond 4 years.

These requirements apply to the Adventure concentration in the Bachelor of Tourism Management.
High school graduation
- BC Grade 12 or equivalent or mature student status.
English
- English 12/English 12 First Peoples with 73 percent or better within the last five years
- or completion of English 0600 (University level English 12 equivalent)
- or Language Proficiency Index (LPI) with a Level 4 or better within the last two years
- or completion of English as a Second or Additional Language (ESAL) ESAL 0570 and ESAL 0580 with a minimum grade of C+ in both
- or equivalent
Mathematics
BC high school graduates prior to 2013
- BC Math 11 – Principles (C minimum)
- or BC Math 12 – Applications
- or MATH 0510 (C minimum)
- or equivalent
Students who complete BC Math 11 – Principles or BC Math 12 - Applications prior to 2013 are not required to upgrade to the new Foundations math, so long as they met the minimum grade requirement.
Students with BC Math 12 – Principles (C+ minimum) will be exempt from Finite Math (MATH 1100) and must make up the credits with an elective of their choice.
BC high school graduates of 2013 onwards
- BC Math 11 – Foundations (C minimum)
- or BC Math 11 – Pre-calculus (C minimum)
- or MATH 0510 (TRU University Prep)
- or MATH 0523 (Open Learning)
- or equivalent
Students with Math 12 - Foundations (C+ minimum) will be exempt from Finite Math (MATH 1100) and must make up the credits with an elective of their choice.
Required documentation
- Official transcripts of all previous secondary and post-secondary educational records.
- Proof of citizenship, landed immigrant status, or valid student visa, if not born in Canada.
- A detailed resumé outlining educational accomplishments and credentials, work and volunteer experience, and personal interests and activities.
- If requesting exemption from the field work requirements, submit three letters of reference confirming the nature, length, and quality of your work experience.
Field work requirement
Met through the completion of the Adventure Guide Diploma.
Exemptions and transfer credit
Applicants who have previous credits in appropriate university or college courses may apply them toward the requirements of the program. A maximum of 50 percent of the program credit requirements can be fulfilled by transfer credit. Please refer to TRU Policy ED 2-4 for more information about the Transfer Credit process.
Meet with a Tourism Management program coordinator
Once accepted, students are required to plan their program with a program coordinator.
International students
An applicant to TRU who is not a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant is considered an international student.
International students must apply to TRU International Student Admissions for admission to TRU. General information on applying to TRU as an international student may be found in the current TRU Calendar.
