Balancing a graduate program with professional and personal commitments is challenging, but making time to participate in workshops and networking opportunities is a vital part of your graduate school experience. Embrace this time in your life, and make the most of it! Come back often to find information sessions offered by the Tri-Agencies, library, Mitacs and the Office of Graduate Studies.
Mitacs Training (Updated for 2024)
Mitacs has updated our course portfolio to respond to modern learning preferences, and better align our content with the competencies needed by industry partners and employers. Each year, thousands participate in training courses to augment their university learning. Now it’s your turn.
The synchronous components are offered in an interactive learning environment consisting of small groups, with approximately 24 participants. They are facilitated by leading business and industry professionals who have undergone a competitive selection process. Our facilitators are subject matter experts in their respective fields and understand what it takes to succeed professionally. Facilitators deliver hands-on, engaging, and experiential learning.
The curriculum is designed to build competencies in five key areas that are recognized as vital to professional success. Each course addresses one or more of the following competencies:
- Professional & career fundamentals
- Interpersonal skills
- Communication
- Leadership & management
- Intrapreneuralism
Mitacs Training courses are open to all university students currently registered at Canadian academic institutions, past students that have completed a degree from a Canadian institution within the last two years, as well as current participants in Mitacs programs. NSERC Q&A Session (PDF and PGS-Doctoral/CGS-Doctoral)
NSERC is hosting the following question and answer sessions for the CGS M program:
These sessions will be hosted as live Q&A Webex events. They are supported by a series of informational videos available on the NSERC YouTube channel. These videos are intended to completely replace the presentation portion of the NSERC sessions, allowing NSERC and/or tri-agency staff and applicants to engage in a more in-depth and detailed Q&A session than we would normally have time for. Participants should watch the videos in advance and come to the Q&A session with specific questions in mind.
Please attend any of the sessions that best suits your schedule. Registration is not required.
