Message from Baihua Chadwick, VP
I wish to extend a warm greeting on behalf of Thompson Rivers University. We realize there are many institutions where you could choose to study, so we are pleased you are considering TRU.
We are a young institution with a rich history. We began as a community college in 1970, and have evolved into what we are today — a premiere Canadian student-centred institution offering programs ranging from ESL to graduate degrees. TRU is home to over 14,000 students, including more than 3,500 international students from 100+ countries and regions.
While you are studying at TRU you will be supported by a dedicated international student services team at TRU World. Studying in a foreign country is an exciting adventure, and we want to ensure you are able to take full advantage of all Canada has to offer. TRU World staff are committed to ensuring you have access to most services you may require, from admissions to academic planning to housing to personal support and counselling.
You can expect to work hard at TRU, but we also know that is important to have some fun. Our Leisure Exploration Activity Program (LEAP) staff plan regular social and cultural activities both on campus and in the community that will allow you to learn about Canadian culture. It is also our hope that you will take the opportunity to share your cultures with us.
As the world becomes smaller, we believe it is important for us to learn continuously from one another. You have a unique story to share, and we hope you will come to TRU and share it with us. We look forward to seeing you on our beautiful campus.
