Geography and Environmental Studies Scholarships
Hugh Neave High School Entrance Geography Scholarship
One award of $700 for a high school entrant into TRU Geography at the first year level, signed up in a minimum of 80 percent program load with at least one first-year Geography course in the fall semester. Selection will be based upon graduation standing, with emphasis on academic excellence. A copy of the high school transcript must be submitted with this application.
Hugh Neave Second Year Geography Scholarship
One award of $700 for a student who has completed a minimum of two of geography 1000, 1010, 1100 and 1110 and who is currently enrolled in a minimum of two 2000-level Geography courses.
Hugh Neave Third Year Geography Scholarship
One award of $700 for a student who has been accepted into the third year of the Bachelor of Arts degree program and is working towards a Geography Major. Applicants must have completed, or currently enrolled in, all lower level TRU Geography and Environmental Studies Major requirements.
Hugh Neave Fourth Year Geography Scholarships
Two awards of $750 each for the highest achievers in TRU Geography and Environmental Studies courses who are enrolled in fourth year of the Bachelor of Arts degree program, working towards completion of the Geography and Environmental Studies Major. Applicants must have completed all lower level Geography and Environmental Studies Major requirements.
Hugh Neave Open Geography Award
One award of $400 for a returning TRUstudent who is registered in the Bachelor of Arts degree program. Applicants must demonstrate a keen interest and have a strong focus in the field of Geography and Environmental Studies. This award is available to either full-time or part-time students.
Hugh Neave Geography Bursary
One award of $800 for a student who demonstrates financial need and has completed at least one year of geography and environmental studies courses at TRU and is continuing on in the Geography and Environmental Studies program. Applicants must completed the attached budget.
TRU Geography Faculty Endowment
Income awarded annually to a 3rd year geography major that demonstrated academic excellence in GEOG 2700 the previous year. The amount will be approximately $350.
Note: The winner of this award is also eligible for the Third Year Geography Hugh Neave Scholarship.
Don Ellsay Memorial Award
Income awarded annually to a student in the Bachelor of Natural Resource Science Degree program or the Geography and Environmental Studies program whose career objectives favor environmental conservation and protection. Faculty selection. Note: This award is to be awarded to a Geography student in 2014, and from this time forward shall be awarded to a BNRS student on the odd years and a Geography student in the even years. If for some reason there is not a good candidate in the appropriate program for the designated year, the other program will choose a candidate.
