Why Culinary Arts?
The Culinary Arts Certificate program combines classroom theory with hands-on training as you rotate through two-week blocks in a commercial-grade kitchen.
Develop a solid understanding of the entire kitchen-to-table experience as you cook for and serve real guests in the Scratch Café and Accolades Dining Room. Additionally, you can take part in wine tastings, gala dinners and other high-profile community events.
Passionate instructors train and guide you in small groups through the different techniques and styles of cooking. Top off your culinary education with skills in kitchen management, human resource development, nutrition and specialty diets.
Our dedicated faculty inspire a lifelong passion for excellence in the culinary industry that embraces environmental, social and economic sustainability. Professional Cook 3 is also available for students interested in completing their apprenticeship.
Upon graduation, you will receive:
- A TRU Culinary Arts Certificate
- Professional Cook 1 and 2 certification under the Industry Training Authority
With these certifications, you will be prepared to complete your apprenticeship to obtain your Red Seal in a field with an incredible array of job opportunities.
Farm to table
TRU Culinary Arts approaches cuisine from a community-driven, farm to table approach, with much of our food being local, regional and sustainable. We tour and source from local farms for fresh herbs, fruit and produce, meat and more.
