E-bike and e-scooter demonstrations

e-scooter and e-bike

Our e-bike and e-scooter demonstration program lets any TRU community member try one (or both) for free for up to 30 minutes around the campus so you can make a more informed decision about whether you want to buy your own.

Both are great options for environmentally friendly, simple and cost-effective transportation.

E-Bike and E-Scooter demos are available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with three demo options:

  1. A medium Cannondale CUJO NEO 2 e-bike
  2. A 500W Synergy Ride Electric Scooter

To book a time slot, click the link below to be sent to our calendar sign up sheet, and choose whichever open time works best for you:

Book a Demo Ride

To access the e-bike or e-scooter after booking your time slot, come to the Sustainability Office five minutes before your scheduled time. The Sustainability Office is located in the Multi-Use Annex Room 145 and our entrance is the orange door facing WolfPack Road and the TRU Gym.

Guidelines

  • You must stay on TRU property.
  • You must provide your own helmet.
  • You must sign a waiver and complete a five-minute safety and training orientation upon arriving at the Sustainability Office.
  • Demo rides are meant to be one-time events.

Employee e-bike discounts

TRU is offering two Employee Electric Bike Incentive Programs for permanent employees.

  1. Standard Employee E-Bike Discount Program (SEEBDP) allows permanent employees to apply for an incentive of 10% off the purchase value of an e-bike, up to a maximum of $300.
  2. Enhanced Employee E-Bike Discount Program (EEEBDP) allows permanent employees to apply for an incentive of 20% of the purchase price of an e-bike, up to a maximum of $700. This program option limits the participant to parking their own vehicle on campus no more than 15 days per calendar year for 2 years.

See the terms of reference for the details on each option.

Only permanent employees are eligible to participate in the two programs. Employees can only take advantage of these two programs once every five years. Bikes can be new or used, or an e-bike conversion kit, but they must be purchased from an established commercial business.

To assist in the purchase of higher-value bikes, participants may apply for financing with up to a two-year repayment period (minimum of $500 purchase price and maximum of $5,000).

Please email the completed form along with a copy of your receipt to sustain@tru.ca:

If you require financing please indicate this in your email. Payroll will contact you with the additional information. If you want to talk about which e-bike might be best for you, or want help with the details of the paperwork, please contact sustain@tru.ca.

Seasonal commuter parking pass

To thank students and employees for using alternative transportation, TRU is offering a seasonal commuter parking pass to cyclists. Register your bike with the Sustainability Office to be eligible for a seasonal commuter permit valid from Nov. 15 to Mar. 15 for either economy ($250 including taxes, plus $0.30 a per month transaction fee) or general ($350 including taxes, plus a $0.30 per month transaction fee) lots.

To register, simply email the Sustainability Office with a picture of your bicycle and a description of where it will be parked on campus (your typical parking spot).

Cycle until mid-November, park during winter weather, resume cycling in March, and save the equivalent of one semester of parking! Up to 100 permits are available (first-come, first-served).

Register with the Sustainability Office by Nov. 10, 2025. If eligible, a unique code will be provided to you so you can purchase your seasonal commuter parking pass of choice (economy or general) through the TRU-dedicated CTRL Online Permit Portal.

Student $40 bicycle purchase program

Any current TRU student who does not own a bicycle can apply to this program to purchase a used bicycle for $40. The program is coordinated by the TRU Sustainability Office.
