Parking Permits
Parking on campus
We recognize parking on campus can be a challenge. You are encouraged to come early to secure a spot. Note that having a general or economy permit does not guarantee a spot and that parking is first come, first served. Check out lots N, NT, EC and Z which are lots that don’t fill up as quickly as others.
Types of permits
All permit types can be purchased through the CTRL Online Permit Portal. If you are a visitor to TRU, please purchase your permit here.
See Other Parking Information for accessibility, motorcycle, veteran and contractor parking.
How to purchase a long-term permit: economy and general lots
Go to the TRU dedicated CTRL Online Permit Portal and follow these steps:
- Log into the TRU-dedicated CTRL Online Permit Portal using your TRU credentials. If you are a visitor to TRU, go to truexternal.concordparking.com
- Select the permit type that you would like to purchase. The permits are organized by group (economy, general, premium, and reserved)
- Once a permit group is selected, you will be able to see the available permit types under the category selected. If a permit has reached capacity, you can register to be placed on a wait list if available.
- Once the permit type is selected, enter your license plate information and choose a payment option (credit card or payroll deduction).
Please note, license plates with outstanding violations can’t be registered, edited or changed until all violations have been paid.
Introducing Flex Pass
TRU now offers 10-day and 20-day flexible daily parking permits — called flex passes — to support hybrid workplaces and variable student schedules. If you are parking on campus one to three days a week, a flex pass is more cost effective than a monthly permit, and more convenient than purchasing daily.
Purchase a block of 10 or 20 daily permits for economy or general parking at one time. Flex passes can be redeemed online on any day you park on campus. You can pre-select the dates you plan to use and make changes from your TRU parking account. For every day you redeem from your flex pass, your account will show how many days are remaining. Additional days can be added to the flex pass at any time. Flex passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase. There are no refunds on unused portions.
To purchase a flex pass
- Log in using your TRU login credentials and select Flex Passes
- Select your preferred flex pass, eg. TRU – Flex Pass 10 (General Lots) by clicking “Buy”
- At the prompt, enter your license plate number(s) and click “Continue Registration”
- Enter your credit card information, then click “Purchase Permit”
To activate a permit, select the day you are parking on campus by entering the date on the calendar and selecting “add a day.”
Join a waitlist for premium or reserved permits
You can join the waitlists for any premium or reserved lot. If permits become available, they will be offered to waitlist applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, starting Aug. 2 and continuing into fall semester. If you receive an email regarding a permit offer with a permit access code, you will have seven days to accept or decline before the permit is offered to the next person on the list.

Outside transit area parking rebate
If you live outside the Kamloops Transit area, you may qualify for a 20 percent rebate on the cost of your parking permit each semester. You will need to apply each semester, even if you are an annual parker. Applications for the rebate on winter semester permits are due Jan. 10.
To apply, please complete the online Out of Transit Area Parking Rebate Application. The Parking Office will verify if you live outside the transit service area before processing your rebate.
For the fall semester, rebates will be issued in January, the winter semester in May and the summer semester in September. Faculty and staff will receive their rebate through direct deposit. Students will be mailed a cheque to their address on file.
Seasonal commuter permit
As a thank-you for using alternative transportation, TRU is offering a seasonal commuter parking permit to cyclists. Register your bike with the Sustainability Office to be eligible for a seasonal commuter permit valid from Nov. 15 to March 15 for either economy ($200) or general ($250) lots.
Cycle until mid-November, park during winter weather, resume cycling in March, and save the equivalent of one semester of parking! Up to 100 permits are available (first-come, first-served). Register with Sustainability by Oct. 31, then purchase your seasonal commuter permit on the CTRL Online Permit Portal (see information above on how to purchase a long-term permit).
