Senate
The Senate has a legislated set of responsibilities for directing the affairs of the institution and setting policies in accordance with the Thompson Rivers University Act.
The Senate has:
- advisory responsibilities on the development of educational policies for the matters designated under the Act;
- the power and duty to set policies, criteria and curriculum for the matters designated under the Act.

Serving on Senate Committees
If a vacancy arises and you are interested in serving on a committee of the TRU Senate, download and complete this nomination form. Send the completed form to senate@tru.ca. This form provides the Senate Steering Committee the demographic information it needs to ensure that TRU’s diverse campus community is represented in its governance bodies.
