Indigenous Canadian Applicant
If you are Indigenous, you may elect to apply under the Indigenous Canadian applicant category. See the Indigenous Applicants page for more information. This category requires 2 reference letters. You will be required to provide proof of Indigeneity (this can be emailed to lawadmissions@tru.ca). You are invited to use the Special Facts textbox of the application or your personal statement to share details about your connection to your Indigenous community.
Discretionary Applicant
We understand that a competitive LSAT and GPA may not be the only determining factor of success at law school or as a lawyer. Please provide any circumstances which you wish to have considered by the Faculty of Law Admissions Committee that may explain your lower than average LSAT score or grades (from your most recent 20 academic undergraduate courses). These circumstances can include disability or special needs, financial disadvantage, age, membership in a historically disadvantaged group, residency in a small and/or remote community, or injuries and illness. The Committee is particularly interested in how these circumstances may have adversely affected your performance in your undergraduate work during your most recent 20 courses or on the LSAT. You will use the Special Facts textbox to explain your circumstances, how you've overcome them, and how you are now prepared for law school. PLEASE NOTE that applicants in this category must still satisfy the basic requirements for admission into the program with respect to having an LSAT and the applicable credit requirement. 2 reference letters are required in this category.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are a major part of the university's vision statement and core values. We want black prospective students to know about the admission supports and resources available at TRU Law and within the campus community.
