The TRU Law JD program represents one of the foremost professional degree programs in Canada. Career opportunities

TRU Law graduates have enjoyed tremendous success in the job market. They’ve obtained positions in private practice, including with well-known regional, national and international law firms. Course overview

TRU Law courses reflect the knowledge and skills you will require to be successful in the practice of law. Over three years of full-time study, you’ll complete 93 credits. All courses are held in person, except a few electives which are completed live online. Clinical practice, directed research, externships and moots take place at variable times.

General admission requirements

  • Must have an undergraduate degree in an approved course of study; or
  • Must have completed the first three years of an undergraduate degree (minimum 96 credits) with at least 30 credits of upper-level courses; or
  • Must have completed the first two years and be currently enrolled in the third year of an undergraduate degree program to receive a conditional offer based on successful completion and maintained academic integrity averaged by June 30. Note: 30 of the 96 credits must be completed at senior level.

Application Deadlines

All applicants: The fall intake application window opens on September 1 and closes on February 10. Application packages should be finalized by November 1 to be the first batch considered for admission. We review completed files on a rolling basis and can start sending offers as early as mid-November.

Externship and practical experience

  • Go abroad: Law students in their second and third years can spend a semester studying abroad on academic exchange with one of our European exchange partners.
  • Build your network: New externships with legal organizations in Kamloops BC are available. Work under the guidance of supervising lawyers to develop career-ready skills.
  • Experiential learning: Gain hands-on experience and real-world skills at the TRU Law Community Legal Clinic
