Education Assistant and Community Support Certificate

Everyone has potential. Now, with an Education Assistant and Community Support (EACS) Certificate, you will be prepared to support and serve children, youth or adults with exceptional needs in furthering their potential.

The certificate empowers and trains you to help people with special needs to learn important educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal life skills. You will be prepared to work as an education assistant in BC school districts and communities as a support worker.

What you will learn

You will learn to confidently work with those who have a wide variety of disabilities.

Ladder up

You may choose to ladder your certificate directly into Year Two of the Human Service Diploma.

What you learn in the fall will apply in the winter: Practicum placements are offered in schools and community agencies, and these can lead to valuable employer connections after graduation.

What you need to get in

• Two letters of reference (forms are included in the admission package).
  
• BC Grade 12 or equivalent or mature student status.
• English Studies 12/English First Peoples 12 with a minimum of 73 percent (or equivalent).
• All applicants are required to undergo a criminal record check for fieldwork purposes once accepted to the program.
