Desmond MacMillan

Assistant Dean

Desmond comes to TRU Law after working as a civil litigation lawyer for close to two decades. Originally from the interior of British Columbia, he studied Business at University of Northern British Columbia earning him Bachelor of Commerce in 2001. He went on to study law, obtaining his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Desmond completed his articles in Prince George and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2005. He was subsequently called to the Bar in Alberta in 2007 and worked a variety of roles before becoming a partner in a western Canadian litigation boutique.

Besides law, Desmond is a Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Canadian Navy (Naval Reserve) and has deployed both internationally and domestically. He also has contributed to the North American Indigenous Games 2027 Tk’emlúps Bid Committee, 2023 Memorial Cup Committee and Nicola Valley First Nations Veteran Association Memorial Committee. He is delighted to call Kamloops his home once again and to raise his family here.
